    Question Valve

    Hello all,

I have been given a 'valve', the valve is shaped like a T, it has an inlet, an outlet, a screw adjuster (which is spring loaded), it also has a small hole on the flat of the T. Is this a bleed vale or is this a MBC valve? I am a little confused as you can tell!

Secondly is it worth fitting to my T5, i also have the correct pipe work and clamps?

Lastly, and I'm sorry to sound so useless, but how, where and in which pipe does it fit?

Any help would be gratefuly appreciated!

at a guess i would say its a bleed valve if its got a hole in

if you blow thru it & get a constant flow of air coming out the outlet its a bleed valve (& a small amount of air coming out the hole in the flat). With an MBC if you blow thru it the air will be stopped until it gets to the set psi then it will allow the air thru

if it is a bleed valve it goes in the pipe going from the BCS (small black box bolted onto the airbox with 3 pipes connected to it) to the actuator

    Thanks Pedro

"if you blow thru it & get a constant flow of air coming out the outlet its a bleed valve (& a small amount of air coming out the hole in the flat). With an MBC if you blow thru it the air will be stopped until it gets to the set psi then it will allow the air thru"

Ok - this is where I got confused, when I blow through the inlet, the flow is restricted by the adjustable screw (& housed spring & ball bearing) which I will presume will set the required psi, and at a certain pressure this will release allowing flow to continue, but then whats the hole for?

If I presume that it is an MBC can I ask if someone can point me in the direction of how to fit it?

so when you blow thru it your not getting any air out until a certain pressure then it opens & you can blow thru it easily? if thats right then you've got an mbc

i've got the instructions for my MBC on the computer, if you PM your email address i'll send them you

as for the hole mines got a small one on the inlet side i believe, not sure why but not all of the manufactures have them

    Oh......My............God.........

Yes you've guessed it I fitted the MBC valve last night, it actually took me 15 minutes from start to finish, the difference is absolutely phenomenal - wow!

How come Volvo dont fit something similar on the T5 / R's as standard?

I am well impressed, the car (for an auto), is now amazing in both economy and sport mode and the turbo sounds fantstic!

Duane I owe you a couple of drinks, many thanks again.
