    Well after a long day at work today got home to find my new present for the R had arrived today! A hlm 304 so out I went fitted it and off I went, well, really impressed with pull and the torque gain I have got under the foot now. Recommend them to anyone big improvement.

    With yours - yes. HLM is 150 quid (I think) if bought new, you get a couple of runs on the dyno too if you go there, too

    150 is for the ecu, no dyno runs, you do with the 300 quid maps like yours would have

    I thought the P1 was cheaper than the P2?
    iirc, P1 150, P2 300.
    Perhaps I'm mistaken

    Remapping is the same thing, practically speaking. Chipped ECU - in days of yore - it was not possible to reflash the code into the chip. This meant changing it. Replacing the standard chip with one with the new map aka - REMAPPED is where the jargon comes from.

    More recent ECU's - it is not necessary to replace the hardware, you just reprogramme the original chip/EPROM

    The map controls the hamster wheels in your engine. The more powerful map allows the injection of more sunflower seeds - thus making the rodents pedal faster.

    The last bit was a bit of a lie.

    Fear not - I was lying about the electronics. really is just hamster based.

    RPM = Rodents Pedal More.

    The more they scurry the quicker your volvo accelerates.

    That's why reportedly James Watt used Horse power, but without the hamsters - you go nowhere.

    Horse power = (Torque x RPM)/ 5252

    bigger downpipe means they can throw away the used shells more quickly too. And don't get me started on the Race CAT

    A hlm 304 Ecu cost 150 plus postage at 12 pund and surcharge at 100 refundable on return of your old unit so 262 in total.
