Help - cruise control question...

A good friend has just bought his first Volvo. An immaculate 2000 model year XC70. It's a petrol turbo auto with 80k on the clock. A superb example of said car. It also drives very well indeed and has had a meticulous previous owner lavishing it with dealer servicing and maintenance including the supply and fit of pirelli scorpions....

However, the previous owner failed to tick ANY option box, no onboard computer, no family pack not even full leather!!! (shock horror) - worst of all it has no cruise control. This could be a deal breaker and he may genuinely find something else to drive if this small, yet very significant, issue is resolved. I am aware there maybe a retro fit cruise control kit available, but does anyone know if a genuine cruise kit can be retro fitted.

I think (please don't shout at me if I'm wrong) the bit you really pay for when you get cruise control on these things is the buttons on the steering wheel. everything else would be done by the computer thingamijigs that are already in the car. Theoretically, all it would take is a different steering wheel and a software update.
