Wink WHP Rolling Road Leader Board?

Just a thought, Seeing as we have a Flywheel Power Leader Board wouldnt it be a interesting to have a Wheel Horse Power Leader board to compare with?

After all thats where it counts insint it? Here's mine to start with

not one manufacturer quotes whp figures, pointless having two tables virtually the same imo

They measure the power direct, on an engine dyno and they wouldn't give out whp anyway as the higher bhp figure looks better.

Why is that? Its whp that moves the car.

Won't reply for a bit mate, just watching match of the day ;-)

In fairness the wheel hp figures are the most relevant as they're the ones which are going to propel the car along. The flywheel power is a pub talk figure which doesn't give any real gauge on performance only really a figure used to sell a car.

was my understanding that it was the torque that produce the moving force. Power is a factor of torque (lb/ft) x rpm/5252

our engines in general produce massive amounts of toque and personally this is where i find them unique and most interesting.

Obviously, the way the manufacturers do it, is the best as thats the actual engine power, no calculation needed to work out anything. But its a bit tricky for us to do it like that. lol

What i mean, is that its the power at the wheels that moves the car down the road, be that torque hp or whatever.

Fair doo's mate, sorry had a few and argued with my mate recently who just turbo charged his 98 jdm interga. to be fair it goes like off a shovel. I kept telling him it was the torque and all he cared about was power. You should have seen the look on his face when he mention the max power to the tuner and the tuners words were " you are not interested in max power, you are interested in a nice even band of torque" it was priceless lol.

sorry just been on a roll

Honestly he was gutted. though to be fair we both put alot of effort into engine change and garret turbo fitting etc.

It was just the fact he was so obsessed with if i get 300bhp ill be happy. To be fair he had bought a good lower end for conversion as his type r compression was to high. Produced 311bhp at fly and 280whp with 240lb/ft of torque which is about 325nm. Nice results.

I can keep up until about 60/70ish then due to his only weighting about 1050kg it takes off. Think i'm going to be roped into changing gearbox soon as ratio's are far to short lol

i use a t38 hybrid with t4 billet compressor wheel the largest possible lol, running on a 2.3 8v with modded big valve head etc and forged bottom end.im going to run it at 28 psi for now but the turbo rated at 36 psi.i have also built a new cossie manifold for it too you have proberly seen the thread on that though.i think this little lot should net me 140 bhp.

I only get 228whp but I get more than 100whp at 2000rpm and 160whp at 3000 - all smooth, with very little lag.

suits me just fine All this crank BHP is subject to the whims of dodgy dynos anyway.
