Unhappy Sadly may have to sell my car for spares / repairs

Due to my clutch being on its way out, my car might have to be sold as a scrapper or spares / repairs I have just been quoted over £600 for the job and I cant afford to pay this! It's such a shame as the car has so much potential and the engine has only done 118k its only a baby!

Also i don't have the space to break it myself, so it would have to go to one of you guys if someone fancied it?

I would definately buy another 850 or possibly a v70/c70 but it would have to be a t5 as ive had a taste of the power!

Isn't it cheaper to pay for the clutch and then have a car that you know is good, rather than dive in to a new/unknown one? Just a thought.

I live in fear of the day the clutch goes on my V70! Not cheap.

Mate, I would just take the hit on the clutch... as im a testament to how much a t5 can cost if you get the wrong one... and it was the usual everything was working when i viewed it and took it out.. a couple of grand later.. and one angry wife..

I just can't afford over 600 notes at the moment, I know I can get a clutch for 150 but its the fitting I probably won't be able to do. I know with a good service the car will be a diamond!

If anyone can do it for much cheaper then they have the job

How big a job is this on the 850 ? Does the engine need to come out, or is it just dropping the gearbox ?

The last clutch I did ( not on a volvo ) wasnt that hard to do, quite a few bolts to undo, and it was time consuming, but on a scale of 1 - 10 for difficulty Id give it a 3.

If you going to break it anyway, why not just get some small ramps, drive the car up it, unbolt the gear box and drop a new clutch in ? Its a good days work or maybe even 2 if your not great with spanners, but you will get nowt for it by breaking it, and then you have to buy a new car... all in all I would expect that to end up costing you more than the £600 your quoted to fix it.

If it was that easy mate I'd be doing it right now, its a proper subframe off job... 5.7 hours for a proper mechanic with proper ramps and proper tools for the job!

I wish my Mrs would let me spend a weekend on my car mate, got a 3 month old baby and i barely get to leave the house lol

I'll try and get in contact with a couple of people that have done them in the past. Anyone you can think that might fancy earning some reddies in the north / midlands ish?

If your not going to run too much power through it, The standard T5 clutch will be fine. I started the job on mine, And after half a day I was dropping the subframe ready for the gearbox to pop off (was all undone) Then ripped half the scabs off a new tattoo. So I swore a lot, Put it all back together and paid someone else to do it. Lol.

    Lol!

I had a similar dilemma when my DIM went lala, 735 quid that we didnt have. When it boils down to cash, its better to take the hit and pay to get a car you know running than to throw 1000 at a car you don't.
The wife's cousin just bought a honda jazz, had it 2 days to find out that the prop shaft had been pretty much glued together with epoxy! bought from a private seller too

You might want to look into that. You still have the same rights as if a trader sold it. Sold as seen written on a bit of paper means nothing when it comes to the law on unsafe cars.

    lol!

I hoping for 300bhp+ do you think it would be ok?

One of my mates has a pit in his garage so i might give it a go, seeing as I've never done a clutch before this certainly seems like a good challenging start... But ill probably end up paying someone to do it lol

At the moment I've got white Injectors, decat and an mbc (and a boost gauge so I've only turned it up a touch) but I've just got hold of another 15g to convert to a 19t hybrid, then when I come to fit that ill stick an rip kit on then a cheeky remap and i should see 300bhp i hope but first of all now I.need a clutch.... Bol**cks! Lol

I'll give a shout now mate thanks
