    Question What should be done?

My 850 has reached 150,000 and I'm going to service it.
Apart from oil etc. what should be done at around this mileage? and when is a good time to change auto oil? cam belt was done at 137k.

    cheers
    Mike

Seeing as your service interval for a cambelt is 80K you could do it early, especially if you dont know when it was done initially?
ATF IMHO should be done once every 20K but no-one does?! I can help with instructions if you want to do it?
Fuel filter has a 60K inverval - so you could do that as well?

I knew I had written this out before

The box holds about 7.5 litres. To change it you can either just drain the box via the sump plug on the side of the gear box(underneath) - but you will not get all of it out.
To do it properly you need to remove the battery tray first and lean the battery on the side of the chasis
Jack the near side of the car
Undo the gearbox sump plug - it is on the inside edge of the gearbox.
Empty as much out of the sump as you can - be careful as it might be hot - especially if you have just been to the shops to get the new ATF!!
Use loads of rags and a large bucket/bowl.
    Do up the sump again.
Undo the return feed from the cooler - there is a nut than attaches the hydraulic pipe to the top side of the box (which is why you need to take the battery tray out).
The return feed is the top of the two hose you can see just near the air intake.
Sit the end of the pipe in the bottom of a 2 litre drinks bottle - with the top cut off or some similar receptical - note there isnt a lot of space
Crank to the engine pumping about 1.5 litres out
Pour new stuff in via a funnel into the dipstick pipe
Repeat until the stuff coming out is the same colour as the stuff going in.
Do up the pipes and put enough ATF in to mark properly against the dipstick

Changing ATF is quite slow. It doesn't go in that quick so be patient.

DW - If you need on the phone advice about the ATF change then call me - 07801 347 993.

My At specialist friend recommended for box longevity - you change your ATF every 20K. I would shorten this interval if you have a tuned T5.

As the fluid is darkish brown and a bit smelly I'll change it. Why didn't anyone at Volvo think of a fill tube for easy filling? Someone else mentioned removing the battery/tray, I thought seems a bit unusual, but obviously is the only way.
    cheers

Dextron III is the ATF you want. Brand is entirely up to you. If this is a one off then I would get more expensive than if you plan a regular service every 20K.
