    850 T5 Steering rack qu

    Hi everyone

    My T5 just failed its MOT with the sterring rack arm having too much play? Do I ahve to replace the whole steering rack or just the arm?

    The garage was a bit vague over the phone but will have more details tomorrow..

    Any help much appreciated

    i've got a complete rack here about to be thrown out, arrange collection & you can have it

    steering rack has 2 possible failure points. 1, inner track rod (2 of, 1 each side). 2, outer track rod (2 of, 1 each side).

    both parts you can get from gsf or euro car parts for about £15 each. just being me if one of those is worn (very possible) ((more possible than a dodgy rack)) I'd change all 4 joints (£60ish) and then get it tracked. sorted. tight steering.

    yep inner tie arms wear and can be done easily as can track rod ends(tre are the ones which are by the brake disc inner are as they say(inner as in by the rack itself which are harder to replace due to lack of space but can be done,mine was worn on 1 side so did all mine in 1 go)
