Bonnet release not working on p1 T5.

Just gone out to take the black grille off the car, and I can't even 'pop' the bonnet. Please could someone give me the best way to sort this?

I've pulled so hard now, my bl--dy fingers are sore. I just want to put the T5 badge on the grille, and was going to do it with the grille off. I'm trying to get hold of the cable and give that a good yank. Oh, what Sunday afternoons were made for...................

lol ok try this, get the mrs out to the car, while your pulling the catch get the mrs to jolt the bonnet downwards, it may help free it, then get some wd40 and grease up the bonnet catches

    Definitely siezed or broken?
Maybe able to get someone to push down on the bonnet whilst you pull the lever.

If cable is busted you'll need arms of a anorexic child to reach the release.. May need to remove the grille

Thanks for that. Mrs Spongebob doesn't want to be seen anywhere near my V70's let alone touch one, so I will ask Nathan to give me a hand. Let u know how we go on.

I don't think it's broken, and I had trouble releasing it when I first got the car in Nov'11. Anyway, I finally managed to release it until today, but will try what Daza-B and you have suggested thanks.

Definitely isn't for releasing even with me pulling the lever back as far as I can, and someone pushing down or pulling up the bonnet. There is now a clear 'clicking' sound as well, but no release. I now think think that it is broken.

It will not budge whatever I try. Does anyone know how this issue is solved please? I will have to contact my local Volvo independant in the morning, if I can't sort it.

I'll see what Readview say mate, cos it was supposed to be going in for the other work anyway. I tried looking from underneath, put screwdrivers through the grille mesh and moved the plastic lever, but no joy. It may be still like this when I come up 11-2-12, so it might be down to you and me anyway.

Spoke to Readview about the bonnet release, and he said that he employs a midget especially for when this problem happens! LOL. It's goes in tomorrow to be sorted, and whilst there I'm having a remap as well (assuming the bonnet will eventually release!).

Exactly mate. But if the cables etc. are the originals, then they're over 14 years old and will have done a lot of releasing! I'll let you know what Adam says after he's had a look.

I had a nightmare when it happened to.me. I took the undertray off and i could.put my arm up to release the passenger side.... After a day of trying the drivers side I rang the RAC and the vents had me in in 20 minutes ....

That may be the last resort! Seriously, it's gone in today to the garage, and they didn't seem to concerned by this issue as they've obviously had it before.
