oh shi** mate, was having a good read and smiling till you got to the 'smokey bit' ....get the turbo off and re-conditioned by a reputable guy and should be fine. Its one of those things mate, you dont really know till you fit it and drive......

Mine was in my garage just sat on the shelf under a piece of cardboard for many months but it was fine when fitted. Doesnt mean your turbo was duff or whatever, just mechanical bits can/do fail

Less of the fail talk and more of the positive.....once you get it off, re-worked, it will be sweet as you like....

Let me know, as always, if i can help ya out

Did you fill the turbo with oil before starting the car?

On the bright side it's only the turbo. I only say this from my experience of a P2R.

Anyone who owns a P2R will know the worse one is when the coolant low warning comes up suddenly, that'll be those liners then.

    Hope the rebuild goes well.

    Oh that's a damn shame
However turbo seals are like piston rings they're not rubber so to say they can deteriorate over the short period of 7 weeks I'd be surprised.... Are you sure the oil drain is clear and not blocked as if the oil isn't returning to the sump quickly enough it will escape into the turbo and exhaust as a result of overflowing internally. If you bought it 2nd hand perhaps the seller fitted rubber bungs into the various feeds ect. to prevent foreign objects entering the turbo during transit and you've over looked this when fitting the turbo and now the oil supply or return isn't doing it's job properly.. Perhaps a couple of things worth checking before you condemn the turbo completely?
