    Reversed intercooler pipework

Hi everyone, could anyone tell me the advantage it has over the standard set up? And is it worth doing?

Also what would you need to do it?
    Cheers

i just made everything up using universal silicone joints off fleabay & aluminium tube, i can't remember the port sizes but here's a breakdown of the pipes

    turbo to intercooler

intercooler to throttle body, this pipe needs a 19mm outlet adding for the idle control valve

Revotec do one, search for self sealing takeoff on google or you could weld one onto the metal pipe

Pricey aren't they, but made for the job I suppose! Have the pipes on the pictures been bonded instead of clamped? Also I noticed there was no dump valve on the pipework, is the stock recirc valve still used instead of a dump valve as its pretty much the same thing?

Thanks again lads, 21 questions I know but I'm new to volvos much appreciated!

i use jubilee clips on the pipes, just hadn't put them on for the above pics. I'm not running either a dump valve or recirc valve

for the idle control i used a 19mm barb fitting for air guns/equipment & had that welded in, £9 from Pirtek.

Cheers bud, on the pipe from turbo to i/c you have a large T-off section, what have you used that for? I've just had a quick look and nothing is attatched to the pipe in this section?

ah sorry for the confusion, the top pipe in the last pic is my turbo inlet pipe. I removed the sensor from its original housing & put it directly into the pipe, the T is the mounting collar

I thought it looked slightly different lol, so that's for you MAF sensor I presume? I like how you've done that! Have you put the filter round the front and relocated the battery then?

yeh thats the MAF. Battery is in the boot but i've not bothered with a filter, the pipe goes straight onto a vent in the wing

Can someone explain to me why sending the air flow 'bottom to top' is better than sending it 'top to bottom' ????
