The turbo ive fitted is a lot darker than this. Its recently had new plugs, leads, fuel filter. Think the wide bands gonna get ordered this week, Just bought some blues to go on aswell and maybe a new fuel pump.

Oh also whether it makes a difference or not, i toojk my old recirc valve off and the diaphram was split?

Does look a little white compared with that which I am used to seeing.. Will certainly be worth having the AFR's checked for piece of mind but the fact it's bone dry is a very good sign

Maybe get the fuel pressure checked aswell, ill keep it as a spare and fit the new one. The manifold was cracked quite bad but fitted an me7 one at the same time, who the hell thought it was agood idea to fit individual gaskets! I could of got a v50 gasket but trying to keep costs down a bit.

The split diaphragm will have lost you some boost from the recirc mate, could have made it run lean too, you gonna blank it off or replace?

Im gonna leave it on the new turbo as it looks brand new (i took it off and checked) its off an ex plod ph2 v70 that was bumped. It started to boost up to 18psi then drop to 10 then build up again, hopefully this will sort it out.

The V50 single piece gasket is cheaper than separate items. The turbo doesn't look to bad. Only way to know if its running lean is to check the AFR's.

Yep, the variable boost shenanigans will be, in the most part, down to the recirc.

Change your Boost control valve for the correct item to eliminate boost spikes and set the actuator rod to the correct pre-load with a pump and gauge. You can use the later 2001 on T5 Boost control solenoid successfully on the 850. Its cheaper than a genuine 850 item aswell from Rufe at FRF.
