Well someone mentioned it on here the other day and It peaked my interest and after finding this video I thought... welllll.. why not lol. at least I wont have to sit in the car with my finger on the button anymore to close the roof before I get out. Ordered from PFS at a very reasonable £255.00

I considered that too, so that I could open/close the roof in a slow moving traffic jam for example. The thing that swiftly made me reconsider was that operating the roof on the move (or from indoors when you can't really tell if there's a sturdy breeze outside!) is going to make it act like a sail; catching the wind and putting stress on the mechanism. And given then the roof is operated by 10 hyrdaulic rams, each costing £200 to replace, I got scared! not only that, but if you need to replace a length of the hose running between the rams you have to buy 2 as they come in a pack - £100 a pack.

So until spring arrives to see if my money trees start to blossom I'm happy to sit with finger on button!

Lol agreed. That's why I don't use the roof in windy weather but the control will be for when I do use it in good weather. Plus it controls all the windows too among other bits. Plus I have over 2 years left on the Volvo warranty so if it does go wrong. It won't cost me a penny lol

Just out of interest - do this bypass the footbrake/centre console button? Does it mean you can open it when you are moving?

Yes indeed. It bypasses having a foot on the brake and can be opened and closed up to 25 mph. Also u only have to tap the open or close button for the roof to operate. U don't have to hold it for the whole time until the cycle has finished. Plus u can remotely open and close all windows from the remote and operate opening and closing the roof from the remote as well. :-)

Well I hope nothing breaks, but I guess you'd be pretty unlucky to press it by accident right?

It won't operate over 25 mph. So u don't eject ones self from speeding vehicle batman style lol. And if it breaks. I still have 2 years Volvo Warranty left to cover any unforeseen problems.
