Talking Eleanor has her tints on :-)

Got the tints on today.. although they are the same grade as on my S60. they look darker as I have a black interior instead of the cream one previously.. anyhow.. few piccys to share.. she looks rather stealthy now I must say lol

I was under the impression you can't have any tint on the front windows any more.

My brothers got tints on his car (legel) and the front windows look a lot lighter than the rear, compared to how ST's look.

For a legal window tint in the UK the specifications are:
    a) Motor Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985
    b) The light transmitted through the windscreen must be at least 75%.
    c) The front side windows (to either side of the drivers’ head) must allow at least 70% of light to be transmitted through them.

I think I am correct when I say that most manufacturers tint the glass in the side windows as standard and the level of that tint is already sufficent enough to reduce light flow through to 70% and therefore tinting a front side window in front of the B pillar usually reduces the amount of light passed through by more than the required 70% therefore making it illegal.

lol.. they look a lot darker in the pics than they are.. the fronts are half the grade of the rear but im guessing the light on them makes them all look a lot darker. plus the totally black interior doesnt reflect any light. they are the same as what I had on the S60 but they were easier to see through as the interior was cream white. from the inside they dont really look that dark at all.. I had the same ones on my S60 for almost 3 years and never got pulled.. I had police next to me at traffic lights etc and they looked over but never stopped me. anyhow. time will tell. but if I do get a tug. I just take off the front ones and get them done a bit lighter.. but hey.. rules are made to be bent. otherwise we would all be very boring indeedy lol.

i'm not normally a fan of tints on convertibles, but it does look good & pull it off well. I can see issues, BT's only front tints let in 22% light according to the Police tint master & had to be removed (have to let thru 70%)

That's cool. If I have to remove the front Ones and make the lighter I will. But will wait n see what happens first. After all. I had them in the S60 for nearly three years and never got pulled. Plus always have the roof down lol so the windows are hidden most of the time unless it's parked up. I will let mr police man play catch me if u can lol

Thanks Chad.. Yeah know what you mean Fandango. We have a lot of Chav race meets in carparks in london so the police are around a lot. but I tend to steer clear and if I see a police man I just wind the front windows down if they dont look in a good mood lol
