    S60 2.3/2.4T5 questions.

    Couple of quick questions.

What year did the T5 go from the 2.3 to the 2.4?
Does the 2.4 have the kkk?
Is there a way from looking under the bonnet if its the 2.3 or 2.4 e.g is there an engine code like on my s70r or are there differences on the engine itself i.e when i'm looking at 540s you can tell the difference visually between the early 4l non vanos and the later 4.4l vanos units.

    Cheers.

Think all 2.4's had the KKK and it would say on the V5C document. (I think the change was done around the time of the facelift).

I'v seen a facelift model on a 54 plate (2005 "54")that in the advert says 2.3 t5 and the info says 2319cc but the dvla and another car checker i'v been on says its 2401cc.

Its cheap for a 2.4, but i think its done a lot of miles, maybe why its cheap.

Cheers, i assume its on the cam cover on the side of the engine like on my s70.

Got a busy week ahead of me so if its still for sale next weekend, i'll pop down and have a look. Its a bit more than what i wanted to pay for a short term car, but if it is the 2.4 and is in decent condition then its a bargain, although i suspect it may be a bit of a dog, but who knows! lol

Although if it is in good nick, then i could end up keeping it because of the tuning potential that engine has, although it would be limited by the geartronic box wegals car is also geartronic and he's got some good power out of his.

Now I am wondering if I shouldnt take my own advice & use the S60 2.4 as the basis of Betsy's replacement. Bonkers idea #161

That does look nice, but a word of warning, a few years back i was looking at a car from that garage and was told to be very carefull. Apparently there were "problems" with some of the cars histories and mileage.

Now its was a couple of years back and i can't say for sure, so maybe they are fine. Just make sure you check everything, which i'm sure you'd do anyway.
