Head Gasket!

Oh my, looks like my T5 has blown a gasket...literally!

Just waiting to arrange a garage to look at the head gasket and let me know what the damage is. Fortuantly i took out a warranty when i bought the beast. I spoke to them this morning, they reckon they might pay a %, let's hope they do!

Any of you guys had this problem? How much did it hurt your bank account?

Supposed to be going to the lakes [in the T5] in three weeks, staying in a cottage. If i can't get it sorted i might not be going on holiday either!

Last time I rebuilt my engine all stuff like that had to be replaced, rough pricies for you
Head Gasket £40
Head bolts £15
Timing Belt £40 (maybe)
Timing belt tensioner £67
5 liters Oil £30
inlet & exhuast gasket £15
Skimm of head if needed £50 max
Plus something I didn't pay LABOR
All prices are guidle lines, from Volvo

Thanx for the prices of parts spesh. At least i know roughly what i'm looking at.

Great the Garage the RAC took the car too won't do the job it's too big a job for them! My usual garage can't do it as they are in the prcess of moving premises.

Would i be called silly if i took to volvo dealer? Would my bank account scream at me if i did?

Unless anyone can recommend a good garage that would do it in coventry?

Well my T5 is currently with Volvo.
They have found;
air leak on the manifold -fixed
Thermostat fell to bits - fixed [i found this strange as my engine never overheated? i think they did too!]

Head gasket is the next job on the list, hope fully get the beast back next wednesday. Would have been sooner but seeing as it's bank holiday.

Total cost £1200! I expected this from Volvo, oh well, it's got to be done init? At least the warranty peeps will pay £690, thank goodness.

Looks like i'll be waiting till next month to get my compressor fixed for my air-conditioning!

Why do they only pay a % ?

They will only pay % because the car is 9 years old and has 152000 on the clock!

It's better than no payment.
