    T5 problems

    HI all,
finally got my t5, although it is giving me a headache the car is running very rough at idle it is constantly hunting i.e. revs fluctuating between 800 and 2000 rpm, and when driving the car just judders with no power at all, any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the quick reply
Just plugged in my scan tool and pulled two codes P0013(Camshaft B position actuator in bank 1.) and P0030(Heated oxygen sensor Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)),
do you have any suggestions, I only got the car on Monday and I am already losing patience with it.

Well at least you had the sense to read the codes! Both could cause your problems i guess, maybe get a known working unit and replace both? Theres plenty getting broke up at the moment, try volvo here he useually has a couple breaking, as long as the part numbers match you sholud be ok

Try the solenoid mounted to the top of the cam cover with 4 8mm screws. If it's duff it will need to be replaced. Also the cam position sensor will show the same code and it's faster to change it than spend a fortune on diagnostics.

Does it idle then when you put your foot down it won't rev up? Or cough ?

OK try replacing the fuel filter that's the cheapest one to start with.
Take the Mass Air Flow Sensor out of the line between the air filter and the engine and run it. If she runs that's an easy replacement job.

From there on in it gets costly

These things happen, I just hope it's nothing serious. And you don't become a dad to soon. But if,as you say he ran her out of fuel twice in the same day, it does point to a dirty fuel filter as a start.
Best of luck sorting it out.

Worth trying the simple cheap stuff first before you send it to the scrapyard in the sky. And please don't mention ETMs anywhere near Christine she's had three, not to mention the two MAFs, one Cat, three gearboxes. We did find out that oil escaping from the breather hose over the top of the engine was burning the plugs, and that caused her to misfire.

Have you got an independent Volvo guy close to you, only main steelers will set you back an arm and a leg. Some of them are just code readers who don't know how to sort out a problem.
Computer says no sorry gov can't help you.
