Are you talking about the 2.4 T5 engine ?
If it's an LPT 2.4T I don't think you'll really need to fiddle with the CR until you've got some fairly serious supporting mods?
BSR stage 3, BSR Stainless Exhaust, Vibratechnics gearbox Mount, OZ 17" Superturismo Alloys, Bell FMIC, LED Side lights, LED interior Lights, Tinted Windows, Eibach Sports Springs, K&N Air Intake, 3" Sports Cat and Downpipe, Debadged, EST Strut Brace, EST Grille, Black Moose Stickers, Bilstein B8 Dampers, Fully Polybushed, CC3 all round, CF Wingmirrors

To further what monkey said, on a purpose built turbocharged engine you shouldnt need to mess with the compression ratio, generally the only way you would do that would be to alter the pistons/bores and you wouldnt go to that extent unless you wanted to run some serious power, which on a 2.4 T5 would probably be in excess of 400bhp.
Im only generalising as i dont know a lot about T5 tuning, just turbo tuning in general but unless youre thinking of building a racing/drag car i wouldnt worry too much about CR
think its a 850 2.4lpt engine he's using
new turbo, FMIC, injectors and stage 0 (coil packs, oil, hosing, MAF, FPS, sensors etc...) should see you right.
Spend the rest on your suspension

You can use S60R pistons to lower the CR. Smithy did something similar with his 2.5 V70, think he got the CR lowered to around 7:1

I would have thought ultimatly, the 2.4 is the better bet seeing as it's more cc's. I dont know just a thought, althoug you hear of many well at least i dont that people have moded.
I'd have thought any volvo t5/lpt engine would need rods etc after 400 bhp
Like i say i dont really know.

Get a T5 block and go mental
You'll get to 350bhp and it'll just be a bawbag to get more with the LPT engine.
