    Question Does my key have a chip?

    As title says, i have a 99 v70 xlt, the key is well well worn but cannot see where there would be a chip in it at all, just wondered if there was? cheers

    even late 850's had a transducer so i'd say yes

    never had one apart so no idea, if you remove the steering column cowl you'll be able to tell for definite as there'll be a receiver ring around the key hole

    there is a way round the chip of you can get a key cut..tape or tie wrap the old key to the receiver under the coloumn..but this will make the immobilisor not work as it should as it will always be disarmed.

    yea thats fine with me lol, its because i am buying this alarm system: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3803698402...ht_7161wt_1185, and wanted to use the keys supplied
