    The first mod!

Got back from sunny Singapore today to a pile of goodies that I have been buying.

Amongst the bits and pieces was a roll of 3m carbon fibre vinyl.

The plan is to cover the walnut trimmed bits in the car and I did a trial on the glve box trim. This cam off simply with 3 screws on the inside of the pull down door.

Pics below show the before and then afters. First effort which is 99% good. Might do it again to get the edges perfect but you can see the effect which I am pretty pleased with!

Maybe I'll try and do it 'in situ'.

The tucking of the edge may be tricky but might try a few scrap pieces first to see how it tucks in.

The 3m stuff is very good to handle and goes nice and pliable with a blast of the Missus' hair dryer!

I prepped the faux walnut trim with some IPA to degrease it which made the stuff stick perfectly so will do the same elsewhere.

i ended up just ripping mine out in the end just leaving a few screws to hold the new aluminium on, i had the sickly yellow wood look stuff, now i have the dark silver/olive aluminium its much nicer than the bright silver you get in the "R"'s

If the weather is kind tomorrow (blowing a hooley here in Folkestone), I will give it a go along with the fitting of the strut brace and the panel filter!

Thinking about the bonnet and roof now.......I can see this vinyl wrapping lark getting out of hand!

Looks well. Its something I think ill be doing to the 850R. The wood looks out of place in a "performance" car.
Arguing is pointless....she may not be right but she's never wrong

I think heat is the answer; a blast with a hair dryer and it moulds real easy around complex curves. I've been looking all around the car for bits to cover now. I'll have to be carefull not to over do it!

    I think so too.

This is the real deal £m D-noc stuff which has a very good adhesive with the fine lines in the glue so air bubbles are non existent.

It looks better in real life too as the flash of the camera makes the car trim look a little blue.

Looks nice. Got me thinking now. After the success of my front grille, and the wife's complete indifference to visual mods, I wonder just what I can get away with...
