    Question ECUs

Hiya guys heard a lot of talk about "hlm" ecus, can someone enlighten me on what they are? how much they are and what they do. Are they universal? im going to be wanting 2 uprated ecus, one for my 2.4 turbo and one for the t5, thanks in advance

HLM are Hamish Lindsay Motorsport - based in Bromsgrove. I rate their tuning efforts very highly. HLM have custom tuned Betsy on the dyno. I believe the stock maps they provide have just come down in price.

You can check them out - http://www.hlmtuning.co.uk/

I guess when peeps talk about HLM ECU's they actually mean ECU's running HLM tuned maps.

I believe they have slashed the prices on the off-the-shelf maps for all Volvos, even the 2.4L T5s

I think you'd enjoy it more if you went there & had a run on the dyno - which I believe is included in the price?? (best ask), but postal services are availabe, according to the website.

You could wait until later next year - when there is a charidy RR day planned. Or you could do the post thing & then show up at that day?

My recommendation would be to go there & then if anything unexpected turns up during the tuning process then you can get it sorted there & then.

850s depending on age/ condition may see as much as 40 - 50 bhp gains.

They are so old now it is almost impossible to predict.

The 2.4 T5 is one of the ones that does respond the best to just mapping alone - but don't forget ME9 has VVT on both intake & exhaust & has a KKK turbo.

Even still though a 40-50bhp gain is good though. When you get the ecu back how do you know the work has been carried out is there a sticker or something on it?
