The whole point of doing my car, was to prove I can do it myself, if I make a mistake I have no-one to blame

I'm grateful to Tim, he is the person that told me about my second fault with the Gripper diff. When we met, we had a long chat about tuning and my car, he is really knowledgeable person.

By the way I have never used Tim for work either but you have to respect the ethos and ethic he instils in the work he carries out for his customers who become his friends.

Tim Williams proved this with IIRC Irfs car achieving 340hp with an 18t whites and a decat with only head work as the major thing done. I think that was the only work done on the car but the person to ask would of course either be Tim or Irf. I prefered the later heads on the T5 engine as they require much less porting and polishing.
im not saying that porting dont work it does but the cost can sometimes outway the benefits ,with a good turbo and intercooler works just as good then if you want more go down the road of doing the porting etc.but as i have said before this is my own opinion thats all.it also depends on budget for the mods involved

Porting can be quite reasonable these days with a lot of companies offering a service to T5 heads via CNC programs that have already been written as lots have been done before. Its when programs have to be written that things can become expensive. Also people that do the work by hand who have done the work may times can be much cheaper than other companies as they are very familiarwith the heads. If the ops car is being stripped by him and the head stipped also by him he could just take the head to someone for porting which will bring the cost right down. That way he could assemble the head himself and grind the valves in by hand although a nice machine 3-5 angle vale finish would be better.

my head on my 940 has got big valves and been machines to death but that is an 8v,the only thing im saying is i know peeps that have got mad power from engines just with rods and pistons and in the older engines like the redblocks peeps are running 400 whp with just a cam and turbo and ms so anything can be done but if the bugdet stretches to it then yes its a good idea imho.

Fitting, a 9 series throttle body means you have to do a bit of wiring, the TPS is in a different place.

I had my 850 one bored out.

we are here to help mate and its the later 960 mate you want or you can mod a 2.5n/a 850 too but best get rid of the plastic plate in this one though thats why the 960 one is better.

Its to slow the air speed through the body, by reducing the amount the flap opens at low throttle

    I think that makes sense!
