Hiya guys as the title says, i have found some con rods that are good for over 1000bhp but cannot find any forged pistons at all, so what are the standard t5 pistons good for??

I heard the standard pistons are pretty good - wouldn't know though have you tried the US forums (turbobricks) ? They'll know what the standard pistons can do.

400-450bhp if i remember
I know of an 850 running 420bhp and a V70 running 460bhp on standard pistons.
The trouble is if you want much more power than that, your gonna need a massive turbo, which will be laggy as hell, and not a very nice driving experience IMHO.

Yep ive seen it lol, i did'nt go for forged pistons no point really as the volvo 0.4mm ones i got are made by Melhe and as said above good for over 400bhp which in my opinion is too much for a fwd car, i have a decent enough turbo on my car and plan to find the "happy medium" of traction/driveabilty which im guessing will be around 350whp/550nm.
T35, 556Nm/410lbft & 361BHP/317WHP
ad no prods with my engine or pistons running 330ish and near 390 foot torque.

Mine has forged pistons in it
Not sure what make they are, but I believe they are Wiseco's
I got mine off another forum member
These are them: http://www.vivaperformance.com/forge...s-850-s-c-v70/
Mine are the 81.5mm versions, handy really, as I had worn bores
Peak figures are misleading & should be confined to the pub. The torque curve - how long, how high & how well sustained is the real magic. High BHP will come as a result but IMHO should not be the goal.
- to be honest when I get around to forging an engine this coming year I will not be going much above 550NM because the chassis/ Gearbox or just the sheer mechanics of getting it to ground will not take it. It will just light up the wheels (even with an LSD). There is a nominal limit to what you can put through the front wheels. The yellow peril is a case in point. Unless you were to turn that engine through 90 degrees & put the power to the back, you just might get somewhere assuming RT could get a gearbox to handle it.
I think once you reach a number like James' then the only route is to start removing weight. This is tricky if you want to retain any sense of a luxury road machine. I like the fact I have aircon, leccy windows & comfy seats & I am not crazy about sticking in lots of scaffolding (roll cage). Perhaps really nice lightweight alloys to reduce the unsprung weight.
Yes I suppose I could remove the interior body panels, sound proofing & not much used rear seats (especially in a C70) - but then would it be a C70 anymore?
It does beg the question - how far do you go?

It's a nice goal to aim for big bhp but i thought the Volvo 4x4 system was abit on the chocolate side in regards of strength?? When you start to get on the better side of 500 plus bhp you'll find that the cylinder liners of the even the 2.3 give up and start cracking so you'll need to change the liners if you want proper big power. A decent suspension setup one that has been designed for your cars needs/power and im not talking about a halfords kit either (inc all bushes & mounts) with a decent LSD will see a very good result in putting the power down on the ground. After having the pleasure of a ride in RT's peril it actually puts the power down on the ground better than you'd think....
Again with JC's car he was running around 420bhp and his car did nothing more than go round race tracks all it's life faster than most aswell, but again not only engine power he also had a very decent suspension/chassis setup.
