    740/760 turbo

Always had a soft spot for the early 740's and 760's and have been toying with the idea of getting a turbo'd one. I know out the box they're not going to set the world on fire but anyone on here had any experiences of them? I know about Smithy's 940 build has anyone else had one at all?

    Yes that's right

What are they like to drive, what do they actually feel like performance wise compared to a bog standard T5?

    Ive sat in a T5, and owned 2 940's.

The T5 seemed a bit firm for my ass, whereas the 940 (740s almost identical) seemed more like driving around in an armchair. They are really comfortable. I had some 40mm lowering springs on mine and it made a world of difference.

Takes alot more effort than a T5 to get the power though, but then again.... it is going to the right wheels :')

the 760 turbo intercoolers were 182 bhp with a garratt t3 turbo as standard but the 940 had a better engine and squiter blocks too.and also some of the 700 series turbos ran 9mm rods instead of 13mm rods too.perfect option would be get a 740/760 turbo and drop the 940 engine with the 740 cam turn that baby up to 20 psi then less than a 6 sec to 60 mph mate.but i still like my 137 bhp 940 just looks right with the pearl paint too.and yes you can make a 760 turbo go faster than a t5 just using an mbc

That's where the 7/8/9 series Volvos age so well, P2s will be dog food tins well before they will ever be considered retro imho

A black 740 turbo intercooler estate (Preferably without the gopping red leather) Is the only car I'd swap or sell mine for... At the minute. I did have a hankering for a black 93 Viggen, But it needs more chassis work than a 740. Lol.

Yeah I was looking it up a while back. Later block with the oil squirters, 16v head etc. But the right one just never came up.
