    DTC P0193- any ideas?

Morning. My V50 T5 has been juddering and struggling. I put in some injector cleaner hoping it was not going to be my second turbo valve in less than 2 years as similar problem then. Now I have an intermittent warning light. Checked the error code with OBEDII scanner- shows error code P0193 which is apparently 'P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input'.

American forums suggest a faulty sensor. Anyone else had the same problem?

It can only be 1 of 2 things - either your fuel pressure is outside proper limits - blocked fuel filter/ pipework or you have a sensor fault.

I have also checked the world-wide ££££££ on google - check & clean the sensor connection, perhaps? I am not sure where the fuel filter is on the newer T5 - but I'd change that too??

Personally the best thing to do now would be to seek a professional opinion. There are not too many V50 owners here so experiences of such issues I think will also be limited. HTH

Cheers Dave. Hoping some S40 owners may pick up the thread too. The light has gone off now...
Optimistically hoping the wonder additive from Halfords has sorted it (I know, unlikely)
Been ripped off by local dealer and their shoddy service and local indie specialist who 'charge nearly half the hourly rate' but took more than twice as long for previous problems.

Caffyns (dealer) fixed a new turbo valve (£280ish).
Then the key stuck in ignition with engine running. Told me to bring it over in the morning (Saturday). Called to confirm- no, sorry can't do that and couldn't offer any advice. Meanwhile my expensive motor sat on driveway with the key in the ignition and engine running. Ended up taking the under dash apart and fixing the problem myself.
They have a useless Service desk woman who knows less than my grandmother about cars, let alone Volvos.

Tivoli (indie) really helpful to start with- identified oil breather surround (or similar) needed replacing. Over £500 notes later problem solved and I was left feeling a bit hard-done by as the price was not what I had been led to believe.

Currently deciding whether to leave my foray into Swedish (I mean dressed up Focus estate) and buy something else. I love the car, love the engine and love leaving people at the lights. But nothing small ever goes wrong...

Goodbye to Volvo ownership... should anyone else have the same fault code or juddering and struggling under acceleration, it is likely to be the fuel rail sensor. Volvo USA changed all such sensors under warranty there, but no joy here. Make sure you go to Bosch direct as they make the part and charge a lot less than Volvo.

    Vauxhall Zafira here I come...
