I vote black grill. I usually like the standard grills but as you say, the black does compliment the splitter very well.
    Grey 855R Manual. Totally standard.

-Removed Chav Indicators and replaced with standard units.

Also have a set of fully refurbed Volans in anthracite now fitted

All in all happy with the days work. Still have the 302's to fit and the car needs a bloody good polish before the Ace Cafe meet.

I havnt decided on the Grill yet, I think the black compliments the splitter very well. I also have a mint condition standard grill so can revert back at any time.

Jobs well done, car's looking lush for it too! I actually think the black grille suits the red paintwork. Perhaps even give the lower grilles a lick of black paint so it all blends? Standard indicator set up is a must with the standard lamps they look loads better! Look forward to seeing it again at the Ace meet on Sunday. Well done Emlyn

I was thinking on the same lines mate, far prefer the standard grill in most cases but the chrome grill looked out of place when I fitted the splitter.

Yeah I think it suits the red too mate, it didnt look right originally though I dont think with the Volvo badge abscent.

I really like the idea of giving the lower grills a lick of paint, I think ill be doing that.

The standard indicators look a little tired compared to the almost brand new headlamp units so I need to do something with them.

Oh yeah an all black grille requires the chrome slash to break it up. Plus with the grille badge/slash present it looks factory along the lines of a 740 or later 240 grille so doesn't stand out like a grille without the badge would.

I would, been thinking about doing it on mine.... The ONLY thing stopping me is that due to their locations they'll be crying out for stones to chip them.

I know what you mean, I fitted new indicators for the very same reason...

You hit the nail on the head with what I wanted to achieve, I hate point blank aftermarket grill's so was aiming for one that was improved over the original unit but still looked like it was "meant to be".

Im not overly concerned about stone chips, a good few coats of decent laquer should prevent that.

I really hope that I wont end up having to buy new indicators as I cant see them being cheap from Volvo. Luckily I have two or three pairs so can experiment with various chemicals to try an achieve the best possible finish.

Indeed, and if your good original grille is really good you might be able to sell it

Around £39.00 a piece when I bought mine, if you've got a collection all well and good. I am sure I've also got my originals somewhere that your welcome to, provided I can find them, if you can't make a good set up out of the ones you have although from memory I think the n/s one has a small section of the outer lip missing but is hardly noticeable once fitted.

Cheers James, the whole car and wheels are actually filthy in those pictures. Ill get some decent pictures of the wheels after a good clean and polish.

Andy, hopfully ill have enough to go with but if needs be then ill take you up on your very kind offer.

A nice mod for your car would be a carbon back panel and having the tip of the boot spoiler painted in gloss black, now that would compliment the black grill and splitter.....all in good time mind you ; )

Tell me about it! I want one for mine. As the rear of the saloon is quite flat I think we could get away with getting a sheet of the stuff. I'm in the process of looking out for some reasonably cheap sheet and having someone cut it out from a template... as I don't think cutting carbon fibre neatly is something you can achieve with a junior hacksaw... lol

Its an option but why settle for any less than genuine carbon firbe, I think it would have to be sheeted carbon fibre cut to fit.
