850 t5 estate rear shocks removal?

how do you remove the rear shocks on the t5 estate..I can see there is a bolt on the bottom of the shock and i know there is a top mount but does this undo from inside the car or from underneath..Got a rear mount which makes a noise on the offside which needs changing by the sound of it,and as yet havent looked fully under the car but had a quick look inside the car and couldnt see the mounts inside unless they are under the boot carpet bit..

If it's the same as the saloon (I can't see why it wouldn't be?) then they are underneath the carpet in the boot, right behind the rear seats. You have to remove a couple of trim clips and the bit that the seats lock into when you fold them up to move the carpet that covers the sides of the boot out of the way, and access the nut at the top of the shock.

fold rear seat down then remove the wooden floor boards then unbolt the last bit of board that is behind the rear seat,a couple of 10mm bolts hold it down,then it lifts up ,the top bolts to the shocks is then exposed.

A matress weighs less than a spare alloy, so ditch the wheel and get a matress and a bottle of Holts tyre weld then go join the dogging fraternity! errrm apparently!

Going to attempt to remove the rear shocks and top mounts today now went out this morning and removed the rear board bit and there they was staring me in my face,I had looked behind the bit of trim where the seat locks to didnt thing of looking under the carpet/wooden bit..had visions of them being undone from underneath with rusty bolts which then snap and a nightmare to remove.. sprayed the bottom bolt with wd40 last night and sprayed the top bolts this morning.

I have some lovely oak parquet flooring in mine...but thinking of going for a Mediterranean terracotta feel in the spring

As for top mounts, yes, under the carpets, a few bolts, very easy indeed. In my experience, it is the bottom bolt that is trickier - but TBH shouldn't be too bad with a dollop of PlusGas.

in the end didnt bother undoing the bottom nut on the shock as once carpet was off i found it was the top mounts knocking away as the rubber has broken up..thats why it knocks over light bumps coupled with front anti roll links(did those yesterday)
just got to order them up and can even do them if it rains as all inside the car as i wont bother removing the lower nut on the shock and just undo the big shock upper nut and the 2 small 10mm mount bolts.Was a bit surprised to see both sides have broken as it only knocked on the offside..
also whats the diffrence if any in the mounts from nivomat and normal mounts?. I got bilstein rear shocks on the car.
