If you do the research within the volvo comunity, you will end up with either a 19t or a k24, do your research in the whole of the web, and you might just find something more interesting.

Do you see me jumping on a public forum saying " just had this ££££££££££ from Norwich on the phone wants me to map up the Jet engine he is fitting to his Volvo sometime soon when he's finished looking at porn on the internet " No you don't. I just carry on with my day knowing that 99% of the people I speak to are intelligent and respectable members of the human race. No need to slag them off. Am I not allowed to defend myself and my professional opinion when it is being abused on an internet forum ?

Congratulations you've won the Obama Diplomacy award!

I have no idea who's right with this argument, but jumping in with both feet won't help things IMHO. As a trader I think it's only fair you keep yourself above forum slagging if possible.

I used to be a customer service manager at John Lewis - I've rewritten your answer JL style... how does this sound?

    Hi Mitchyboy,

I'm sorry you weren't happy when you rang up and spoke to me. I said "A turbo that was designed for a big diesel truck engine will not work on a small petrol engine" I meant to point out that it could be quite challenging to get this Turbo to work and drive well.

I take pride in everything I do, and I felt that I owed it to you to point out there potential sticking points in your project to assist you in avoiding issues and costs later on. If I did this in a way that offended you, I did not mean to and I am sorry. I appreciate your car is important to you.

Call me back anytime, or pop around for a cup of tea and I'd be happy to talk to you about how we can work together to turn your car into something that's fast, reliable, and engineered to the highest standards.

    Yours,
    Hamish.

Darling - come home please and get of the forum ;0)

We are dammed if we do and dammed if we don't, you have made the right decision not to work on this car. If this guy choses to slag us off before using us, just think what he would have said if we did attempt what he asked and it not worked out.

I agree progress is a good thing, but I am not prepared to trial a new conversion like this on such an old car with a potential arse of a customer - no thanks.

Hamish is straight talking (I live the bloke I should know) and i'm sorry if you didn't like his straight talking honest manner, but honestly slamming the phone down on him was really childish especially when we have made the effort to phone you back at a very busy time.

Now honey i've got a yummy tea in the oven so get you sexy bum back here pronto ;0) xxx

Out of my realms mate.....I think not. I'm not just a 'flasher' like most of the people in my industry. For example last week I mapped... yes mapped myself... not downloaded a generic map a 2008 Range Rover TDV8 and on Thursday I remapped.....yes again I made the calibration myself....for a brand fire new Skoda Octavia VRS 170 Tdi with the latest Bosch EDC17 which incedentally has anti tuning.
If you want off the shelf maps for Volvo's I also have the best you will find for Volvos in the UK.
With regards your car please do look elsewhere.

    Regards,
    Hamish.
You obviously are a very knowledgeable guy Hamish but you got my back up by snubbing all the research I have done and basically saying I'm wrong when I know I'm not. A Holset will work on a petrol turbo whether it be Volvo, Jap, 1.8, 3.0, 5.0 litre. You just have to research the correct size turbo as you do for any turbo conversion and other peoples experiences. You know 1000x more than me but I'm afraid on this occasion you were wrong.

Too true. 19t etc is a good upgrade but it's been done to death. Maybe I'm a mug for chucking a load of money at an old Volvo but I'm an enthusiast and want to see if I can do something a bit different.

I should have listened and not bothered calling.
Are you for real ?? You started telling me yes telling me that I needed to go and look on youtube for definative evidence that a turbo from a Diesel truck will work on a small petrol. Is that the fruits of your months of research ?? I've had plenty of success tuning all sorts of cars and bikes the only people who say avoid are a handfull of muppets most who have never even seen or spoken to me..
I look forward to the day that you prove me wrong with this Holset turbo on your T4 but I think it is a long way off.
