    ignition key keeps turning

    Hi all as above, I put the key in the ignition and it keeps turning, it does catch after a minute or two, any ideas? Thanks

    sounds like the 850 fault with the switch on the end of the barrel failing

    It's a fairly easy fix on the 850, the switch is just held on with two screws( once you get to it)

    Common problem with these barrels it seems.... I have a new V70 which has a similar issue and I start is currently with a screw driver.


    Current Garage:
    1997 960 3.0L 24v - Polestar...(Honest guv..!!)
    1997 855 T5 S - stripped to 1300kgs gross weight - 14.2sec qtr(rank 17*)
    2001 V40 T4 SE - 14.199@100.15MPH - Hybrid Turbo/VXR injectors and DeCat(Rank 15*)
    *Data Sept 2013

    Well Coventry is almost a different country!!. I have a very odd starting procedure:
    Transponder key into barrel
    Start engine with screw driver
    Remove transponder key.
    Put in steering lock key and turn to release steering lock.

    It is almost a security feature on its own..

    Will get motivated to fix it once the log book arrives and I can tax the thing (lost green slip!!)

    forgot to mention that the back of the ignition switch in hanging loose to be able to use a screwdriver

    grrrr forgot to mention got stuck at the works car park today, the key just keeps turning and turning, its so bloody annoying!!!

    It's out of an 850 so i would guess so, ill send it to you and if it works pay me if not send it back. Ive got to get to a post office tomorrow to send a few parts off so pm me your addy.
