Talking Huston I have found the Problem

    Attachment 11562

Well i've been boring you lot on here for a while now about my Mystory Boost Leak!

My previous t5 also had this very same problem which i never looked into has it blew her gearbox shortly after.

So here i am contiplating changing the Exhaust housings on my 15 g from my spare!

This is a picture of the replacement which i was going to use!

See at the bottom of the wastegate! a Crack which goes from top to bottom and along the lip of where the gate shuts.

I bet your bottom doller my current one has done the same!

Camera phone pic sorry but rest assured it is quite big.

A crack definately won't help if the wastegate can't seal completely...

    Thumbs up

I'm dam sure this is the problem, Bad pic i know, but that crack runs from one side of the port to the other and from top to bottom.

When cold the turbo screaches only when on boost, until it warms then it's practically gone, obviously with the heat the crack becomes less coupled with poor holding of boost..

    Thanks for everyones help.

I'm now looking for a 16t or 19t with a front pipe to match.

you really do need the 960 throttle body with a 19t, there really laggy otherwise. The cracking is common

Like i say it's a poor picture, the crack is quite substantal.

OOh nasty. Hopefully you've got to the bottom of it. Shame it's such a big problem rather than a split hose or something

is there any in/out play on the turbo , look for the 19t as the 16t is only a tiny bit bigger than the 15g m8

Just get another 15g and get a proper map done, probably be just as good as a 19T on a Rica with an MBC as the Rica or equivalent stage one isn't mapped to run at it's best with a 19T

Just a thought really and I am not saying don't get a 19T or that a 19T is a bad turbo it just seems all to common for people to instantly reach to the top shelf for a large turbo forgetting that mapping the car to suit is also required to get the best out of it....
