    Been looking at a T5!

    Hi guys,

Went to look at an 850 t5 last night, 171k fsh, cambelt done at 155k, new battery, new brakes, very good tyres, taxed till end of Feb BUT mot runs out tomorrow! Had a good look round and all looks solid apart from the following, a couple of rubbers need replacing on the back, the air con doesn't work, there is a boost leak somewhere and the PCV system appears to be bad (smoke through the dipstick).

The main things concerning me are the PCV and lack of MOT, it is up for 700 but I know he is seriously open to offers as it belonged to his deceased father and is just taking up space. Is it worth pursuing or not? Your opinions would be great...

    Thanks,
    Jamie

The mileage isn't really a worry, neither is the Pcv as parts are only about 80quid, when you say bushes on the back end which ones??

Ask seller to put it in for an MOT. £700 without one is too much mate IMHO

Do not pay 700 for this with no MOT. Don't pay 700 anyway as with the issues it's well over priced. There are some real bargains to be had atm.

I was never intending to pay the full amount, especially with the lack of mot. What do you guys think it is worth, 2-300?

Or should I just steer well clear? The rest of the car appeared immaculate, just the faults listed above.

There are plenty out there to choose from, your mates car with a full mot is only going to be worth about £500, without an mot it's scrap value £200

Also has aircon been removed, damaged or just a regas? Personally I'd steer clear. You'll find a nice one for 700.

Not having a lot of money, and owning a Volvo T5 isn't a great mix? You know they do 18-23 mpg do a set of front tyres in 5000 miles (or is that just me ) and for the mechanically sympathetic have 6 month oil changes - then there is the insurance...

    Yeah I know,

Fully aware of the above, have been driving a tuned V6 vectra (210 bhp) for some time which also has a nice thirst for fuel and tyres!

I am just in need of something a bit bigger with the ability to tow at the moment, unfortunately funds are a little tight this month having just moved house.

    Maybe I should wait?
Or maybe I should see just how low this guy would go for the above car?
