Thumbs up Simota Cold air intake

Hi Just Purchased a Simota Carbon cold air intake to my 855 t5, And Seriously it has made/seems to have made one hell of a difference.

Before fitment car running 18psi on super unleaded, hlm remap, with mbc, blanked off recirc valve. She seemed to bog down/lag abit on boost.

Now My God She really picks up well rev's nice and clean through rev range and pulls pulls pulls like i dont know what.

Also the sound of the Turbo spooling is awesome.

Bought it from PFS £131.00 plus postage, and deffo recomend

glad your happy with it, filters can make a good bit of a difference. I don't like the U bend on the Simota system, have seen someone who managed to squeeze the filter further across so the pipework was straight

Rnash had it like that on his old 855 (straight with no bends).
You need to have the rip kit, for it to fit that way, but it would be worth it, the straighter the better.

Ive got a k&n cone filter and a home made heat shield. The k&n worked well but the heat shield really has done wonders for the car but im suspecting Im still getting quite a lot of hot air from under the bonnet

Im pondering how to get more cold air to the filter as its only got the standard cold air feed that should go to the airbox.

With mine, I cut a hole in the side of the airbox and ran a 50mm flexi-hose down to the top of the subframe in front of the gearbox. I used 50mm cos it was all I had and will no doubt go larger when I find something suitable - for free of course.

I know it looks like it's a metal pipe but it is painted with cold-galv spray.

i ran many different makes & designs of filter over the years, & tbh never noticed any difference between sealed & open cone filters (trying no filter no lol). My fastest 1/4mile was done with an open cone

removing the weather seal from the rear edge of the bonnet & a bypass switch on the fan will help remove the hot air as well
