    D5 servicing

    Hi all, as i've had Bonny almost 2 years i think its time for a quick service.

    What oil do i want, i've got some 10w/40 for BT which says "for petrol & diesel" will that be ok?

    & what about fuel filters, is it the usual canistor under the bonnet like other diesels i've seen

    many thanks Duane

    Fuel filter is just in front of the back wheel on the driver's side (well it is on my P2 V70) held in by a single bolt through a bracket. the hose clips can be a pig to get off and when you re-attach them to the new filter, give them a good tug to make sure you didn't damage the internals. You don't want them popping-off at 70mph spraying fuel all over the rear brakes! New filter is about £13 from GSF. I think 5w/30 semi synth or 10w/40 full synth are what GSF recommended for the T-5 motor. Don't know about D-5.

    I have been driving HLMs D5 auto, and I can assure its really not slow, infact its bloody nippy and being an auto its easy to forget how quick your going.

    D5s rock, I would look at castrol oils Volvo now recommend.

    As good as the D-5 is, it's T-5 all the way for me, I turned the boost up a bit on the Big Sweed yesterday, forgot to tell the missus, got growled - at. She rarely gets it past 3000 revs and when she does it scares the s**t out of her and then she blames me!?

    Pick a wet day and find a deserted carpark. Get it out of your system!

    -> MY '04 (YV1SW7***4*******) & Euro 3. 10w40 Semi.

    MY '05 -> (YV1SW7***5*******) & Euro 4. Longlife. SLX.

    Euro 4 cars have a DPF which regenerates using engine oil.

    THE WRONG OIL WILL KILL YOUR CAT/DPF.

    Mine used to like 5w40 full synth.

    I used AC Delco with the VW PD spec. Good value . . .

    Buy the genuine cabin filter cos it's the only one that fits.

    i binned the original cabin filter because it was restricting the air too much
