    Exclamation I.t.e.o.t.w.a.w.k.i.

    ...with apologies to REM.

As of this Saturday coming I will be an ex-Volvo owner. The P2 is no more. The deal is done and for the next couple of years, at least, my daily driver will be a Citroen.

Five and a half years, unstinted maintenance, discs & pads, suspension & shocks, Powerflex and Meyle have had good business but, thanks to Volvo's non-existent gearbox oil change regime, it needs more spending on it than I'm prepared to pay. Possibly more than the car is worth.

It's been fantastic, maddening, joyous & frustrating. Fast, safe, it's the only car the wife will fall asleep in while I'm driving. But F$$k ME! Has it ever cost some money!

I may not pass this way again. Right now I can't see me ever buying another Volvo.

The moose has shed his antlers and joined the common herd.

Thanks for listening. It's been fun. I hope I didn't bore you too much

    luv'n'stuff

    John Baron.

Shame to lose you from the club, though I totally understand the rationale behind your decision! I hope you will drop in from time to time to see us.

Good luck, I completely see your frustration, just don't buy a nissan, renault, seat, volkswagen, skoda, fiat or merc - they're worse! Get yourself a nice markII escort (manual)

Shame, but understandable. Likewise my Volvo ownership(s) have been a bit disappointing on the reliability front. Like you, I switched to a Citreon for a while (£650 Xsara diesel estate with the XUD engine). Bog standard engineering and flimsy build but it keeps plodding on and only needs consumables.

    Good luck!

Will be sad to see you go but as others have said the reason behind the decision is understandable.

These old Volvo's do start to become unreliable the older they get but you have to ask yourself how long will it be before I have replaced every mechanical component? For me not very so its nearly a new car again!

You're the Wishbone Man on here, so I'm sure you'll be posting. Anyway, I need to borrow your 7 seater for my new Heathrow airport run business now my bank manager has said 'Non'. Any he's not French. Unlike votre nouvelle voiture.

Felt a tinge of sadness as the V70 was driven away yesterday. The new one ain't got 170bhp but gets down the road OK.Acres of glass! Panoramic windscreen and roof. Already checked with Axa that it's all covered!

So far: 50+mpg, 100 quids a year less tax and a REFUND from the insurance co!

Still doing wishbones for P2 if anyone wants them . . .

Went to the I of W last weekend and found out that my daughter's boy friend's car costs him £20 a year to tax. It's a Nissan Pixo, mind you the insurance is cheap as well. In Liverpool he was paying £1500 now it's £300

After a few days of getting used to it a few first impressions.

You can get more in it than the V70.
The kids like it more, so does the Mrs.
It isn't as fast but not by much.
The roof is great, light & space.
    It's smaller than my Passat.
50+ mpg, cruise & flappy paddle shift.

What's not to like? The conversion appears complete . . .

    Not big enough.

I reckon you need at least a C8 or for real authenticity an imported Toyboater with a stupid name and an unfeasably large number of windows.

Not to say no insurance etc.

    Citroen!

Oh, just one more thing....make sure your wife or kids (or you for that matter) don't leave anything switched on or listen to the radio with the ignition on etc, etc else the car will go into 'Economy mode'. The biggest PITFA that Citroen/Peugeot ever thought was a good idea. Most of the time it's a recovery to the dealer and if it don't cost you then it will in the future.

Best of luck and i'll see you back here in a year with another Ovlov
