    turbo actuator adjustment

i was watching this ipd video showing how to adjust the actuator on my 98 v70, i was wondering if the adjustment gauge they use is really necessary, or if unclipping the actuator arm and closing the butterfly valve and then adjusting the arm to suit is good enough?

Not absolutely necessary to use this tool although it will be alot more accurate than adjusting and guessing. As a normal rule, without this tool, to achieve a good nominal preload you should be able to eclipse the wastegate arm by half when resting the actuator arm on top of it, however on an older actuator you may need a small amount more than that. Personally I use a mitivac for boost adjustments as by pressurising the actuator I can see when the wastegate starts to open and at what pressure it does this..

    Yep exactly that

When you set about checking/adjusting you want to see the wastegate opening at around 3-4 psi I think. Someone on here will know the exact value I am sure

I bought one of these a month ago to set up my actuator.

Very fast delivery, and excellent price too!
I also ordered (off another ebayer) a 1/4bsp connector and 4mm tee so I could connect it to the hose. Then I used the pressure adjuster on my compressor to limit the pressure to 3psi
