Thumbs down Codes Read - Front Lambda Sensor

Has anyone had this on their P2?

I've been tripping the engine light and the emissions service reqd so went to have the codes read and Front Lambda Sensor is the culprit.

I drive the car generally once every two weeks or so but recently I've noticed smoke(lots) on long downhill overun once or twice would that trip the sensor?

Should I be checking out the turbo pipes for rivers of oil?

Is it the original sensor? If it is and the car is beyond 100,000 miles it's time for a new one anyway.

Thanks sizzlechest, just found this (below)

Bosch recommend that lambda sensors are replaced at the following service intervals:
    Unheated: Every 30,000 miles
Heated 1st generation: Every 60,000 miles
Heated 2nd generation: Every 100,000 miles
    Planar sensors: Every 100,000 miles

Symptoms of a failing lambda sensor includes:
    Increased tailpipe (exhaust) emissions
    Increased fuel consumption
    Hesitation on acceleration
    Stalling
    Rough idling
    Engine management light on dash

I had the front lambda go- didnt notice any smoke but the engine definately ran rough for the few days It wasnt fixed + had the management light on!
Strong smell of petrol, but fixed with no lasting trouble at all. Vaguely cheap aswell all things considered!
    Hope this helps.
