    Oil Leak from Turbo !!

    Hi guys,

Noticed my 97 V70R has been using a little bit of oil over the last couple of months.
Had it in my local garage this morning for its 6 month oil change and while its been up on the ramps we've traced a slight leak coming from what seems to be the area around the top/top frontside of the turbo...Any ideas what it could be ?

Car doesnt smoke or anything like that and still pulls like a train on full boast.

Simpleish fix or new Turbo time !!

    Cheers boys.

    Dicky.

could be the 2 copper washers that are failing on the turbo oil feed or could be the turbo return gasket. A mates car did the same 2 days ago, sprayed oil everywhere, turned out to be the turbo return lower seal, that seal is at the end of the turbo return pipe and seals between the pipe & the block, 25cm's from the turbo but still sprayed oil everywhere. Worth cleaning it up and running the car again to see exactly where its coming from.
.....sooper moose. '97 850R manual. Yum yum.

    Right, cars done 136k.

Deffo not the return pipe into the block, that had new seal n gasket last year and is clean as a whistle.

Oil hasnt been "sprayed" anywhere, just a little on the subframe, below and left of the turbo !

Anyone got a exploded view of one of these Turbos? Would like to see what (if any) pipes etc are on top. Car is a 240hp Auto btw.

It might just be oil in the vac system, leaking out of the airbox to turbo trunking, these do perish at the end and split, seen many T5's with oil around the gearbox from the PTP area.

Going to Southend Dicky? would be rude not too

Gaz, would love to be going Southend for the meet, but alas no...We're flying out to Greece 6am tomorrow morning for 2 weeks in the sun.

I'll catch up with you sometime soon. Have a good un at Southend mate.

Unhappy V70 T5 oil leak from turbo

Hi had the new t5 (2001, so new to me, not actually new) 139k on the clock, up on the ramp getting tracking sorted, noticed an oil.leak from the turbo on the compressor side. Slight weep, not terrible and the engine still pulls like a mother. I'm thinking rebuild with new oil seals and shaft bearings, but devil on shoulder says "excuse for bigger turbo".
What's the experienced petrol head think?. Going to get it remapped within the next month so any advice welcome.
    Thanks
is there.any level of oil leakage from the compressor side you'd consider normal, or, as I suspect, is any sign of oil a clue to having to get my hands dirty?
