    Erratic power steering

    Hi. Guys
My c70 has not been getting a lot of use recently. Took for a run over the weekend. And my power steering seems to be coming and going '.?

I checked fluid , which was very brown cloudy, I thought it should be red like trans fluid .?

    No leaks evident

How do you drain fluid ? Or is pump or rack fudged ?

the best way to change the fluid is to use a turkey baster or big syringe (i got one from the chemist) and suck out as much as you can from the fluid bottle and then top up with new fluid.
Jack up the car and put it on axle stands (it saves your tyres) and turn the steering wheel full lock to full lock a few times to circulate the fluid and get any air bubles out.
Repeat until the fluid your sucking out is all nice and red and looks new.

I have drained and replaced the P/steering fluid.

    It has help a bit.

Still seems to get assistance then no assitance and self centering not happening.

    Pointers please.

    1. is this the pump not working intermittently ?
    2. is this an issues with rack ?

    any help appreciated

If its going on and off I'd think it would be more likely to be the pump rather than the rack.
