    Clutch.

    Hi guys,

My thrust bearing makes an awful racket so will probably get my clutch done in the near future, or if I decide to start from scratch and build an engine it would go in that. Which clutches for T5's are interchangable? I ask this because I see V70/S70 T5 clutches going for 80 odd quid cheaper on ebay than 850 T5 ones? Also I am aiming in the future to run 350ish bhp. Which of the T5 clutches would be best to handle this power? 850R, V70??

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Mitch.

Thanks for the reply! Does the 850r clutch differ from the V70/S70 T5 then?

i haven't got Vadis anymore so can't compare part numbers i'm afraid. I do know the 850R is stronger than the 850 T-5, but whether Volvo updated the S/V70's to the same clutch i've no idea

Thanks mate. I'm just researching everything atm. I've always wanted to rebuild an engine and might buy a second hand lump to gradually build it to my spec as funds allow. I don't fancy ordering the wrong parts hence the questions lol

mitch my thrust relaease bearing makes an awful rachet too, I wouldnt worry too much about it to be honest. If the clutch starts slipping then I would change it.

I have Vadis but dont have access to my PC for about a week. If you havnt confirmed your answer by then I will get back to you.

No Im the thick one for not explaining it. Vadis is the Volvo diagnostics and schematics computer. It details every single component and procedure for maintaining every model of Volvo... a very useful piece of software.

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds really useful indeed. How do I get hold of Vadis or is it only for Volvo dealers etc??

No need to be a dealer, its quite expensive though. If you PM me with your address I will sort you a copy out when I next get a chance.

That's not the number for the SMF clutch kit. it had a few more 2's in it IIRC. my kit was about £300 inc the bearing, the bearing alone is £100 for a pattern one on Ebay.
