320mm rotors and calipers from S40/V50T5 AWD & LS-LV Focus ST are a great improvement over the 280 and 302mm 850 and x70 brakes.
The calipers are inexpensive and there isnt much to do to get them fitted.

    Here's the 320mm rotor vs the 280mm -

Very nice work there, looks a tidy job.

I saw this when the Dutchman did it a few years back. He put dimensions on his thread.

I've made similar, but ended up with 350mm rotor running large (big) piston brembo 4 pots (about twice the size of renault 4 ones), just for extra stopping power, but have to fit under 18s.

Are those Volvo calipers or patterns? They look identical to the ones on my 336mm setup but without "Volvo" stamped on the top.

That aside, if they are the same calipers, the way they stop is exceptional, anybody who hasn't experienced it is in for a pleasant surprise

Not sure if they're the exact same caliper, though the ones in the picture came from an LS-LV Ford Focus ST (XR5 over here) and have FoMoCo cast into the back of them.
The hangers are stamped ATE only and are indentical.

The anti-rattle spring youre using looks a little different, it looks like the Audi part instead?

The ones in our caliper pictured above are genuine Volvo parts (and actually came out of a volvo bag, new, this evening).

It'll be the same caliper then. The anti-rattle spring on mine is possibly a heavy duty one as the setup comes straight from the XC90.

Bloody good brakes for a bargain price (and almost a direct replacement on my P2 )

I just re-read your post. I didnt realise yours were 336mm. Not sure if they're exactly the same if thats the case.
Volvo Part numbers are 36000731 (L) and 36000704 (R) for these.

The only difference will be the carriers. The calipers are the same throughout the post 2005 (P2) range and most of the newer C70 and S40/V50 range. The focus ones are just modernised versions, which will also explain the lack of "Volvo" stamped on the caliper.

I suppose an important question would be length of brake hose.

I may see if it's possible to pop a lock nut on the back of the counter sunk bolt.

Yep - used the hoses from my 305 kit on the 336 conversion. The port on this caliper is slightly closer to the hard pipe than the original, making it fit perfectly.

But your brakes are for a P2 which won't fit on a 850.

Here's my 320s under titans the ash dvs kit.

You will need to enlarge your rotors, I have a friend who is sn engineer so wasn't a problem for me but something to bear in mind for less able people.

One point I would make is that the discs shoulder is 4mm ish thicker and worryingly it looked as if only around 6mm of the wheel bolt was holding the wheel on. I replaced them with 35mm wheel bolts (45mm (cut them down) are too long and standard are 29mm) to solve the problem and I havent seen this written in the fitting notes and I know that if I fitted 5mm wheel spacers I'd want longer wheel bolts.

Great info on the wheel bolts, we don't believe it to be an issue (unless you want to run a spacer). I'll do some more measuring and look at it further though. Thanks heaps!

It is an issue, the disc is 3-4mm thicker where it mounts on the hub, so it acts as a 3-4mm spacer.

I noticed as I only got about 2 full turns on the bolts before they where home tight, if for example using a 5mm spacer I'd use 5mm longer bolts.

I'm using 35mm bolts, rather than 29mm standard.

Mines lowered and I don't get rubbing and no rubbing on full lock with 215/45/17s titans, which can be an issue on standard cars.

I also machined my bolts for a perfect flush fit, then tig welded them in place, just to cover all bases.

Great work. Excellent attention to detail! What else do you have in mind for the T5R?

Been driving the gul more and more and the brakes are very adequate.

Definately more progressive, I've made a similar set up for my 940 which has a lot of servo assistance unlike the 850s so should be good.
