The car has been laid up for a few days while i did a coolant change and when i moved it this evening it made a more noticeable jolt than normal when coming out of park... anyway, did my short journey and found i couldn't get it back into park!
shifts to all the others, R, N, D and drives fine but just won't go into P.
Tried pressing the lock button, doesn't make a difference - anybody know whats gone wrong and how to fix it?!
this is a nightmare as i can't take the car anywhere until sorted as i cant take the key out!

was reading a forum about another volvo model of similar age and they were saying there are microswitches under the shifter that can be damaged/go wrong, anyone know if the s70 is the same?Current car : 1999 S70 T5

Thanked 6 Times in 5 PostsThe key will only come out in park as most 99 on cars had the key to gear selector cable on them.
If I rember right take the cover off the gear sourond and you should see the cable on the right ,if you play about you should be able to relace it and so let the key go back to the off position
