You don't need to take the door trim off.

There is a little black plastic cover just above the door catch on the end of the door, lever it off and underneath is two torx screws, undo those and the door handle should pull out, then you have to wiggle the door handle to release the handle from the lock mechanism inside (there are no screws attaching it)

The connection from the lock to the door catch might have broken or something inside the key mech might hape snapped.

Right did that and can see that the spindle rod thing is broken off.

Can I get the parts from the scrappy - by this I mean getting the bits without having to change the door lock itself and ending up with 2 keys...

Is the door card easy enough to take off - I actually undid the 4 torx and the little screw at the side but i was nervous about pulling hard and breaking something.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction.

    Cheers

the door card is easy to take off, (4 torx screws along the bottom, remove the speaker, pull the trim behind the door handle off and there are 2 more torx screws there, and lever off the door handle) but I don't see how that will help you.

Surely by removing the door card it will help me access the innereds of the door mechanism and thus enable me to replace / repair it?

How else will I fix it without removing the door card?

Let me know if you know an easier way of doing it.

    Thanks.

You should be able to change the rod without removing the barrel. Just drive out the split pin at the base of the rod and put the new rod in.

Is it possible for me to remove the handle by doing what you originally suggested?

All I found I was able to do was pull the handle out slightly.

I will try and take a pic later as i think its a little more complicated!

    Thanks for responses everyone!

As Claymore says, just pull and wiggle, I've just removed mine by doing that, theres no other screws to remove just those two.
