well yes it runs, but its not right.

Afrs all over the place, smoking, checked and swapped everything possible and its still not happy.
Last weekend, I even removed the entire fuel system and cleaned it all through, amazing how much sh** came out of it, but its not changed anything.

Just flashed the Turbo Tuner with a different map and nothing changed???
Starting to think maybe the ecu is the problem, again...........
Swapped it for a standard ECU and the car wont even start! lol

Would by any chance someone have a TT lying around that works that I could borrow to eliminate this potential fault?
Or someone local enough (sussex) that knows how to work a TT, maybe take a look?

Supposed to be ontrack next month, so running out of ideas as to what it could be......

Not sure I want to put it on the rollers if there is an underlying problem

    Cheers for any help

I'd throw the Turbo tuner ecu in the bin and go for M4.4 with an ostrich, alot easier to tune

He already has an ostrich inside the turbo tuner, all he needs to do is transfer it into an M4.4 ecu

When you want to bin the TT send it may way please, sure I can do something with it, but back to the car and It's running .....what has changed since you where last out in her testing....? I know these cars are sensitive to ecu's and some work and others don't

Get my car running and you can have it

When I was at Abingdon in Sept, it wasn't right then either.
Same symptoms as now, hesitant on throttle, then all of a sudden it would kick in and take off! lol
Obviously sat in the garage is not the same comparison, but its still hesitant when throttle is applied.

I'm starting to think the Ecu might be at fault as believe it or not, its been sat on the shelf for 7 years,
    Maybe the battery has died??

Yesterday, I put in a standard Ecu and the car won't even fire, forget running.
so I tried to flash the TT with the 'standard' map it comes with, car behaved exactly the same as before, like the map was not excepted.
Tried some other maps with the same results, from 2 different laptops.

Air leak on the boost hoses or a maf issue possibly, but then I'm sure you've already tried swapping the maf

    Air system..........

not the first to mention it, but i have checked the hoses, doesn't mean the IC wasn't damaged in the accident,
    something else to check.

also, have now disconnected the PAS stuff, I thought it would effect the air a little, any thoughts on that?

on our v70r we had rough running and hesitant to rev up, but would go after a struggle to get the revs up, turned out a hose clip had rotted away and the IC bottom hose had blown back a bit, air leak was enough to confuse ecu and maf, maf was seeing higher airflow so ecu dumped more fuel than required.

not sure how PAS (power steering) alters airflow..? or I am being thick on interpretation..?

I’ll check all the boost pipes, again

Might have my abbreviation wrong there with PAS
I meant the VAC line to the brake servo, but have since learn’t that
should not effect it until brakes are applied

Come on, you mean you haven't pressure tested the system?

It's easy enough to make up a tester to bung in after the MAF, then just listen. You can even do it using your mouth, won't need much to find a leak

You can take the case off the ostrich and change the battery, it's only a cr2032

Think the ostrich is epoxied into the lid of the ecu (was it Claymore that took his apart?)

Like I said, if you were closer you could borrow my M4.4 with the ostrich in

Ah, I couldn't remember who it was My apologies.

I much prefer the neater way of mounting it:

yea that looks a bit more professional.

Took mine apart and its not a simple battery swap. the battery has brackets attached, so I will need to invest in a new one.
but, as I had gone to the effort to remove it from the PCB, I checked it and it was still showing 3V.
So my thinking at this point was, the ecu should have lost its memory, capacitors aside, so I reinstalled it and flashed it.
Car started and first impressions were good, but no, same results. getting better, but the same.
If I alter the fuelling it doesn't change a thing, car runs regardless.
While I was out there and the car was warm, I changed the MSD coil.
Again, better but still not right. still getting white smoke

slowly but surely, getting there, but this ecu is starting to look like the culprit
