I have front hubs and wheel bearings if you want any.

I had it once on track where the wheels had been painted on the inner face and that caused them to come loose. Also I'm not sure what studs/ bolts you're using but standard Volvo M12 bolts will start to stretch when hot if they have ever been torqued up to 130Nm or more. With new Volvo bolts 115Nm seems a happy medium on track.

I've since changed to Titanium bolts but haven't don't enough testing to give worthwhile feedback.

I have been using a stud conversion kit from MPRE for a while without any problems, until I put the Volans on.

Thanks for the offer of parts, I'll get it stripped down to find out what I need.

Got a couple of hours in the garage today
removed most of the damaged front left and replaced with standard parts, so I have 4 wheels pointing roughly in the right direction, at least I can move it now
next step is head off as there is no compression on any of the cylinders.

Some impact there to snap the steel wishbone, I'm running ally wishbone I'm betting they're not at strong.

as feared, removed the head today to fine all inlet valves have had a chat with the pistons, hence no compression.
looks like its detonated on all 5 too....

    ok, just swap the head??
nooo.........head bolt snapped, so the block is gone too......ffs

I snapped a head bolt like that, fortunately I managed to get a socket down the hole and onto the top of the broken piece and wound it out then retrieved with a magnetic tool.

You did a good job... I have a N/S/F hub but not a wishbone. What gave you the conclusion that it's been detonating?

I've always managed to get out broken head bolts out from these engines without removing the engine or damaging the block with straight fluted easy outs and guides. They can be hard to do and if it's tried and failed then it's very unlikely to be able to be done.

thats interesting , as I did manage to shift if before it snapped, so maybe the block can be saved.

detonation - the state of the exhaust valves and the carbon on most of the parts, the last engines Ive taken apart have not looked like that.

I dont suppose you have a link for these "easy outs" do you ? lol

Straight flute screw extractor principle (or at least one method, seems like there is a few different types)

That's a nice set Harvey and you can work them back and forth to ease the stud out gently by the looks of them, unlike the stanley proto ones I currently use, I can see a set of these getting used on Tomcats old engine which has a snapped head stud.
