    Question Any ideas?

Had an intermittent problem with indicators sometimes staying on and not blinking, speedo not working sometimes and tracs light staying on...so, I changed the electrical part of the ignition, having seen that's a common problem.

    *sigh*

tracs light still on and indicators still playing up so that was a waste of effort lol

Assume it must be the indicator relay and abs unit now!

Have an abs unit to fit so really just want to know how easy or not it is to do...a step by step would be handy.

    Thanks in advance chaps

What for the abs/tracs? lol I think not mate!
You can do better than that so far 3/10 for lack of effort

Burn it? Tempting but I'll lose too much money pmsl

ok just read you've changed the ignition barrel (i am at work so can't spent time reading your s**t lol)

the speedo on yours will be took from the ABS sensor so go thru the ABS ecu, which as you know also has a common fault with the dry joint inside it

not sure the indicators are related to the same problem

Thanks...at last some sense from you lol

What I really need to know is where the abs ecu is located and is it an easy removal process mate? I've got a spare abs ecu to fit.

    I gather I'll need a torx E5 female socket?

What you need to do is remove the airbox (if you have one). Then get a torx headed driver. Unclipe the two electrical connections to the ABS unit which sits tucked under where all the brake pipes converged onto the ABS pump on the n/s inner wing. Undo the six torx screws being careful not to drop them. Then simply allow the ABS unit to come free. Nothing will fall out or anything like that. Reverse procedure to reinstall. Not in the least complicated, just a bit of a wrist-twister to do some of the screws. I can change one in less then twenty minutes so probably mere seconds for you!

There is an excellent pictorial on it somewhere on Matthews Volvo Site.

That said, not sure if it relates to the indicators (certain it doesn't). But almost certainly the speedo.

Hope that helps a bit. As for torx bits, get a little pack of draper torx heads off Ebay for a fiver and use a hex head screwdriver with them,

Thanks Phil, just what I wanted mate

Don't know about the mere seconds (I am advancing in years lol) but that sounds a relatively easy fix!

May be a stupid idea but in the case of the indicators have you seen if it is a bad earth or a loose connection somewhere.. also i have had before a fuse that gone but looking at it it was ok but when flicked it you could see the wire was broke but still touching... just a thought could be way off...lol

All seems ok there, I had a look...so I think it's most likely the relay that's on the way out.
Think I might check the fuse again though now

    Thanks mate
