Question Diasble Alarm when I want to?

    Hi,

My convertible has leaking A pillars - which I'm also trying to sort. So to get round it I bought a tailor-made Covercraft cover - superb...but when it's REALLY windy the alarm gets set off.

I've tried roping the cover on and then tried turning the alArm off via the plipper but it automatically goes back on after about a minute.

So, can I disable the proximity detector by pressing buttons, or disable the whole alarm when I want to easily? Not worried about security.

    Thanks,

    IAN

you should find that if you unlock car with remote, open drivers door, turn ignition to position 2, and then back off (to cancel auto re-arm) then lock car with key, it should be locked without deadlocks/alarm on. (check the little red light doesn't come on in centre of dash when you lock with key.

I think if you sit in the car, doors closed, key out of the ignition. Hold the central locking button on the door for 2-3 seconds the central locking should lock then open. You can then get out of the car and lock it with the fob. This should lock the car, set the alarm but disable the movement sensor.

Works on the '99 V70 when we leave the dogs in the car.

And before anyone starts about dogs in cars. No it is not on hot days and the windows are ALWAYS left partially open for ventilation. If it will be for more than 10-15 mins there is also a bowl of water for them.

It appears to work and leaves the red led flashing

Sounds even easier - thanks, cover has gone away to be tweaked by covercraft as it was a bit lose but once back I'll try that...what about setting back to normal?

If you just lock the car with the key itself the alarm will not arm.

In which case ( without trying to hijack the thread ) how can you get the alarm to sound with a fob with just the 3 button casing? As ive had mine 3 years an never heard it go off.

You can't. not with the fib anyways. If all you are wanting to do is test the alarm, arm it with the fob, let it be for 5 mins, and then open the door with the key. Hey presto. Disarm as you uaually would.
