    Exhaust and the MOT?

Mines up for it's MOT next month and I've got a little prob with something loose in the middle box. No holes or rust on the outside of box but maybe a baffles loose inside and it rattles on idle, can this be a MOT failier?.

If I cut out the middle box and fit a through pipe leaving just the small box before the tail pipe how noisy will it be?.

    Thanks in advance.

Won't be a failure MOT wise as long as it's not leaking and is supported correctly. Removing the 'suitcase' is a common mod and on the turbo's shouldn't make it too noisy (the turbo takes a lot of the pulses out of the exhaust tone)

just double check it is your exhaust baffle rattling and not the cat convertor that has broken up before you chop it out. as this can give a rattle on idle as well
because it just had to be done

The exhaust looks in perfect condition and I renewed the hangers last year, it's deffo the silencer, if I hit the silencer or move it from side to side I can hear somthing rolling around inside it.

I may give cutting it out a try, if it is too noisy I can put a small silencer in there.

Or you could open it up with an angle grinder remove the baffle and weld it up again, while your at it remove all the baffles!
