    Tyres rubbing

I recently, about 3 months ago, replaced 215 45 17 with 225 45 17 tyres on my V70 and had no evidence of them rubbing at all. Worryingly I now do have rubbing which seems to be getting worse as time goes on. It's mostly on one side when turning and the amount of lock needed to cause it is getting less and less. What on earth is going on?

    Regards

I believe there was another thread (not sure if it was on this site or another), relating to this width tyre on the V/S70.

I have just fitted Tethys alloys and 225/45/17 tyres to my S70 T5 and required to fit 5mm spacers to the rear. The fronts rub on, or approaching, full lock.

What is recommended is a set of "stops" as fitted to a C70. These simply limit the amount of lock, and prevent the wheels turning past the point where they would begin to rub. Obvious downside is poorer turning circle. If I find the thread, I'll post the link.

If they weren't rubbing before, and are now, and only on one side, then the lock stop could have fallen off the one side.

On both mine and my cousins car, a rivet had come out of one side of the lock stop and it had twisted down allowing just that little bit extra turn on full lock.

Its worth a look, should only take a few seconds to see if it has moved or even dropped off.

The thing that worries me is that they didn't rub when first fitted and now seem to rubbing more and more as time goes on.

Just missed your post Bomb. That sounds interesting as it does seem to be on one side. I'll have a look and see.
