    LPG conversion on a T5

As the title, has anybody considered getting an LPG conversion done on their T5?

i work for a dealer and i have seen many conversions with problems.
some due to poor installation , others due to a poor system .
my advice would be to stay clear

We have them at work (duel fuel). They can be a pain in the arse to start sometimes and also cut out occasionally.

Not ideal, but obviously cheaper than petrol. No performance losses though.

But if things go wrong, it's not as if you can just take it to any local garage.

they run higher boost usually to compensate for something when running on gas, but my main gripe is that the engines actually run worse mpg on gas so
it is just the lower pump price that makes it - and the government bless em
were thinking of taking away the subsidy on fuel as they turn out to not be as environmentally friendly as first thought !!!!! ]

the worse conversion i saw was a c70 t5 where a wire was just pushed into the ecu block connector which shorted the ecu. the installer when asked
said it was to connect to a spare terminal !!!!!! spare terminal on an ecu ???????

If you go for the direct injection version you will have no problems @ all, & you can also remove your cat as well so helping the gases to escape quicker.
The subsidy has been extended to 2008 so you should be ok.
I have been in a scobby which had gas conversion & the guy had had it tuned & it to say it was fast was an understatement, this guy runs the company & he said that he has done a T5R & the owner was very impressed & could feel no change in power loss etc all for 30p + a litre

Yeah, but if your filling up with Optimax every week you should be seeing that back in around 1 and a 1/2 - 2 years (on a T5) which isnt bad at all. Im in South Wales but would be willing to travel anywhere in the UK to get it done properly!
