For those who remember my thread about homemade R.I.P kits well after saving a few pennies and splashing out on all the parts the homemade kit was complete. Fitted it a few weeks ago and have been far too lazy to get the pictures uploaded.
All started with an evening trip to Duane's (p fandago) to have a crack at fitting the kit... which was done at the roadside!
All parts present after everything was taken to pieces we noticed that I had ordered the wrong size reducer for the 45 degree angle to fit to the top intercooler connector... a little voice then said "No fear Duane is hear" and minutes later the correct size pipe was taken from BT.
After around an hour or so of fiddling the kit was all fitted and the car burst into life... only seemed right to let Duane have the first test drive
After jumping in having done the 80 mile journey to his I could notice a difference almost immediately in spool up from the standard set-up. Car pulled sooner and seemed to be for longer... I do confess to turning the MBC upto around 16psi though on the return journey.
What can I say other than it was smiles all the way home
Thanks p fandango for all your help and the modified lower IC pipework.
Only thing I have had to do since fitting is replace the original throttle body to idle control valve pipework as it kept splitting and loosing vacuum leading to ... no boost! Off down to B&Q and fitted some braided pipe that seems to fit all to perfectly. Picture below shows this.
All in the job cost £60 for silicone £15 for lightweight aluminium and £10 for jubilee clips.
IPD Kit £500... homemade £85..... Im happy
Here are a few pictures, please excuse phone quality.
