Volvo 480: 25th Anniversary of the first FWD Volvo

A few weeks too late, but never mind.

    By the way, they're brilliant.
    --------------------------------
1995 Volvo 480 Turbo: white, open filter, tweaked wastegate. Brilliant little car.
1996 Triumph Daytona 900, black, loud pipes. Brilliant big old bike.
1998 BMW 540i: Big fat fast and thirsty. Lovely V8 burble.

I have to admit myself I nearly bought one at one point for £400. I think they are a decent looking car for the era and abit different.

I found it amusing that Volvo made such a big fuss about the 480 for the celebration year - considering they spent much of the last 25 years pretty much pretending it never happened.

    Oh well

I've had two... a celebration 2.0 and a turbo... the turbo kicked ass... easy to get em to 200 bhp... cossie killers... and pop up lights.... they're cool even these days..

Easy to put big power to them, but NOT easy putting big power to the floor through them!!!! Also uprated clutch a must for meaningful power changes.

In fact this is the reason I finally abandoned the 480 as a daily drive and as a modding experiment - just not sensible for driving with the power we wanted, and could get with it - wheelspinning in 3rd may seem impressive, but not fun...

I must've owned 8 or 9 480s in my time - the last one got scrapped only a few months ago. Still co-run the Volvo 480 Club of Europe though...
    Cheers!
